What is CDN?
A Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a distributed network of servers that delivers web content to users from the nearest geographic location, improving speed and reliability.
CDN Explained
A CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a geographically distributed network of servers that caches and delivers web content from the location closest to the user. When a user in Tokyo accesses your website hosted in New York, a CDN serves static files (images, CSS, JavaScript) from a server in Tokyo instead—reducing latency from 200ms to 20ms. CDNs also provide DDoS protection, SSL termination, and load balancing. Major CDN providers include Cloudflare, AWS CloudFront, and Vercel Edge Network. At M3L Software, we implement CDN caching for all production websites. This typically reduces page load times by 50-70% for international users while also providing an additional layer of security and reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a CDN?
If your users are in multiple geographic regions, yes. Even for single-region apps, CDNs provide DDoS protection and reduce server load. Cloudflare offers a generous free tier.
How much does a CDN cost?
Cloudflare offers a free tier for basic CDN. Paid plans start at $20/month. AWS CloudFront charges $0.085/GB. For most small-medium websites, the free Cloudflare tier is sufficient.
Does a CDN help with SEO?
Yes. Page speed is a Google ranking factor. CDNs improve load times, especially for international users. Faster sites also have lower bounce rates and better user engagement.
